11, 13, and 14 don't notice the Walker until it fires one of its missiles at them, and it's too late for them to get away. The Walker doesn't see 6 because unlike the other three stitchpunks, he has dark gray stripes that make him blend in with the ground. The machine turns and leaves, and 6 clutches 11's key as he starts murmuring to himself about the Source.

The idea was that 6 used to be perfectly normal until this incident ruined him. He's not crazy; he's just shell-shocked.
